A great solitude of city living is getting the f-out occasionally :) Easter weekend proved to be one of those times with a well-needed connection to nature in Livingston Manor. It's incredible how different the world is 2 hours out of the city. We hiked all weekend, met some lovely new friends, and came across many discoveries:)
Discovery
Island Spa & Sauna /
After a grueling holiday of running around, deadlines, parties, etc., it was so great to enjoy a day of relaxation at Island Spa & Sauna in Edison, NJ. Not knowing what to really expect, the guy in front did not do the best job at explaining, so I'll run it down for you. Shoes come off in the front and you're given a uniform to wear (guys and girls have different colors-which was interesting, but this is not a gender equality post, I'll spare everyone :)) Next you'll head to the locker room to change into your uniform. The infused baths and 2 separate sauna are all nude, so get comfortable with yourself if you're going in! The main area is coed where everyone wears their uniform and are welcomed into the sauna pods-each at different temperatures. There's a juice bar and eating area, as well as a sleeping rooms-if in case, all this relaxation is tiring. Outside the pods is a common area with a big screen TV playing calming nature videos, but I did find it interesting that people are on their computers and phones. Personally, I like to unplugged when I'm a the spa. The deep tissue massages were fantastic, with additional stretching involved (one of the best I've received) All in all, an awesome place to go if you're in or around central Jersey.
H MART /
After a lot of talk and visiting Korea, and everyone THERE knows about H Mart, I got my booty over to the store, and let me tell you....it's like a museum of fresh fish! And if you have a knack for packaging.... H Mart has you covered. I just want to buy everything because it's so darn cute!!! Here's some of my favs....including THE GREAT WALL OF KIMCHI!!!! :)
NODA /
New Year, new discovery. This new year's, we went down to Charlotte, NC to visit a friend who lives in, NODA, an artsy community combining artists and young professionals. I have never eaten so many biscuits and gravy and wings in my entire life, but man, was it worth it! :)
FREEDOM PARK
Window Shopping /
For a night, I played tourist with visiting all the store windows in Midtown and taking photos like it was going out of Fashion. My favorite, Saks, took home the gold for most creative display:
SAKS
BERGDORF GOODMAN
BARNEYS
MACYS
ST. PATRICKS CATHEDRAL
The Blaze Tour /
A few weeks back we embarked on a journey past Sleepy Hallow to Croton on Hudson for the annual Great Jack O'lantern Blaze Tour. Being the last week of the tour, I was slightly skeptical on the condition these pumpkins would be in, but low-and-behold every jack o'latern was fully in tacked in colossal sculptures which were all hand carved.
Battleview Orchards /
One of my favorite Fall-esque things to do is apple and pumpkin picking. And for 3 years now, we've been going out to Battleview Orchards for our annual picking. This year, we had an addition to our crew, Zoey, who was the best (and cutest) picker of all ! :) And don't forget those apple cider doughnuts!
