About
An Ohio native, I moved to NYC in 2006 after completing my B.A. in Fashion Design from Kent State University. After working in the Fashion Industry for 11 years, I've had the opportunity to work on many sides of the business from boutique at Cynthia Rowley to private label at Tiger J, working with celebrity clientele such as Queen Latifah, Nicole Richie, Louise Roe and Sam Saboura. I had the wonderful opportunity designing for Macy's private label, Style & Co for 5 1/2 years, learning the magnitude of department stores.
In 2009, I co-founded FSMNYC collaborating and designing in a multi-faceted jewelry company including designs from Knuckle Dusters to Draped Body Harnesses. The "Luxury with Attitude" aesthetic pushed the envelope in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn scene, and grew to boutiques and online retailers.
In 2018, I made the move from the Big Apple to Charlotte, NC to work with the southern retailer, Belk. In 2 years, with the help of our cross functional partners, we were able to relaunch the private brand, New Directions, from design aesthetic of styling and product to floor representation and merchandising. One of my proudest accomplishments of having a vision and seeing it execute in stores and having a positive response with customers and growing our brand sector!
With the hit of the pandemic in 2020, I searched for a creative outlet and launched my second jewelry line, CYNTHIA CATERA COLLECTION. I had just finished my Holistic Health Practitioner studies, and wanted to blend both worlds of design and healing into what I know best…. creation. And so it was born, wearable healing art! Using crystal, shells, and all organic material from Mother Earth, every piece in this collection is one of a kind.
