One of my favorite girl bands growing up was Sleater-Kinney. Taking car rides in the country was in me of the most exhilarating acts of freedom we could have and having a great soundtrack was the perfect compliment. Years later, I'm reading Carrie Brownsetin's memoirs in the sun, and I just love this quote from the forefront of the band's origins....
